The aim is to identify weak signals related to the development of learning and education in Europe. We collect views on potential factors that will, in your opinion, influence the evolution of education. Participants to this collection of signals are also invited to assess the signals provided by other participants. All participants will have access to the final results. The method consists of two phases. They are carried out with a fast and easy to use web-tool. You can participate in the first phase by clicking the link below. https://www.survette.com/846-708-21@leonie&signals The link is open until the 6th of January 2004. You will receive a separate invitation to the second phase early next year. With best wishes, LEONIE project team at Helsinki University of Technology

The question: What changes education and training by the year 2020? Martin Vögeli’s answers: More and more short term and on the point learning. Information has a shorter half-life than ever and thus people have to learn on the point. They do not have to know everything because one can look up information in a fast and easy way. People rather learn concepts and methods than gain specific knowledge. Concepts and methods are more important than knowledge. People rather acquire new concepts and methods than knowledge. They don’t have to gather knowledge because the information and communication technologies have become an integrated part of our lives and facts and figures are always just one click away. There will be improvements in the technology used. The technology of learning management systems has improved a lot because of the feedback of the many learners who use them every day. Mobile devices are used in a much wider range. Mobile devices can more than fast computers achieve in 2004. In addition they are mobile and can access information and huge databases from every point on the earth. They are capable to visualize complex data in a easy understandable way. Play and learn. Properly designed and intriguingly complex computer games are acknowledged to have an enormous educational value and are used widely in the education and training. Artificial intelligence makes learning fascinating. Artificial intelligence makes drill and practise a varied experience. No more dull never-ending multiple choice questions – rather discuss complex subjects with your customized personal AI.
